What is Refuge provision for families?

We are building refuges for families fleeing domestic violence. Our mission is that families can stay together in a homely environment whilst going through one of the most traumatic times of their lives. Currently families with older boys in particular find it very difficult to find places in refuges and are therefore placed in Bed & Breakfasts. No families can take their pets into refuge, which is one leverage abusers make use of to prevent families leaving. We believe creating homes with a family kitchen, lounge, and where children can stay reunited with a cared-for pet is vital for their mental health when all else is changing around them, sometimes even the city they are living in.

We are creating partnerships with charities, with the end goal of charities owning these homes to deliver refuge, and the homes becoming asset-locked.

The combined resources of trust funds, corporate partners, philanthropists, high profile ambassadors, connectors, and social finance can turn our vision into a reality.

We can work with your donation and the donations you raise through your campaigning to provide refuge which is not provided with any profit. With your donation and our practical work and skills we can create something valuable together.

What is an asset-lock? An ‘asset-lock’ means that property can only be only be used as a community asset, e.g. a charity or Community Interest Company, ie never used to make a profit.
